We would like to thank our clients who have retained our services this last summer!! The SoCalEMS staff had a wonderful time serving you and we look forward to doing it again in summer of 2009. We are happy to report that this summer was incident free and this is something SoCalEMS strives for year after year. Next summer will be even better and we look forward to it!

Southern California EMS is widely recognized for its professional lifeguards and the rigorous training programs our team members must pass in order to become one of the elite members. With Southern California EMS, we recognize that your children's safety is our #1 priority and our lifeguards are the best in the business. All lifeguards must pass a strict screening process to ensure that they have:

If you would rather hire just basic lifeguards from a swimming school or an aquatics management company, that is your prerogative however; if you want the most seasoned lifeguard/medics, then you need to call Southern California EMS headquarters. In addition to the above, all staff members must attend and successfully pass monthly in-service training classes. We impose the highest standards upon our staff that ensures you are getting the best trained lifeguard/medic for your event. All of our staff currently work for various fire and EMS agencies throughout the Los Angeles region.

All our lifeguards bring one trauma kit, including oxygen and rescue tube to each event we do. 

*Lifeguard/medics are available all year long for private events, movie sets, etc.

When booking a pool party, please use the following lifeguard per person ratio tool:

  • 1 guard per 5 - Under age 6
  • 1 guard per 10 - Ages 6-10
  • 1 guard per 15 - Ages 10-15
  • 1 guard per 20 - Ages 15-21
  • 1 guard per 25 - Ages 21 and over

The Southern California EMS lifeguard division was created in 2006 to meet the ever increasing demand for qualified and professional services to those needing extra protection at their pool parties or events. Too many consumers were complaining at the lack of skilled professionals being sent to their events. In some cases these lifeguards were simply college students with no pre-hospital training or prior lifeguard experience attempting to make some extra summer money.

After utilizing several resources, it was learned that all of the aquatics school lifeguards and private lifeguard companies in the Los Angeles region had no formal testing procedures or any type of background/drug testing policies in place. Basically these companies would hire anybody that had a CPR card and Red Cross lifeguarding card. There was no quality control measures in place.

This all changed when Southern California EMS decided to create this unique division. All candidates are required to participate in a three phase hiring process which includes testing, background checks and extensive oral interviews. Once accepted, new candidates are on a 90 day probation period and only work with our seasoned senior guards until they have been trained in procedures and protocols. All lifeguards must attend in-service training to ensure competency of lifesaving skills.

The company is operated under a rank system based on length of service and seniority. We presently have one captain, one lieutenant, and support staff. We continue to grow day by day and thereby earning the respect  of those we serve. We are available 24 hours a day.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification? Yes! All of our Lifeguards have the required minimum training needed to work as lifeguards. Some of our Lifeguards are also EMT's/Paramedics which mean they can provide more comprehensive pre-hospital care to the injured guest.
     
  • Do you have CPR certification? Yes! Each Lifeguard has his/her current American Heart Association CPR certification for the professional rescuer. The certifications are obtained through in-service training offered by various agencies.
     
  • Do you have first aid certification? Yes! At the minimum, all lifeguards are required to have first aid training however; we prefer hiring and sending out lifeguards with EMT/Paramedic certification.
     
  • Are there specific pieces of safety equipment we need to provide for you? No! Each Lifeguard is outfitted with a rescue tube and first aid/trauma kit. Our Lifeguard/EMT's are outfitted with a trauma kit containing oxygen and airway kits. We have our own uniforms which identify us as Lifeguards.
     

EVENT RATE

When considering our pricing, you must ask yourself what price you would put on your guests to make sure that they are taken care of if something should happen.

  • $195.00 per Lifeguard/Medic (3 hours)
  • $260.00 per Lifeguard/Medic (4 hours)
  • $325.00 per Lifeguard/Medic (5 hours)
  • $390.00 per Lifeguard/Medic (6 hours)
      
  • 3 hour minimum
  • $50.00 oxygen fee if used (To be billed on separate invoice)

 

*Please note that there will be a 15% holiday surcharge
