If you would rather hire just basic lifeguards from a swimming school or an aquatics management company, that is your prerogative however; if you want the most seasoned lifeguard/medics, then you need to call Southern California EMS headquarters. In addition to the above, all staff members must attend and successfully pass monthly in-service training classes. We impose the highest standards upon our staff that ensures you are getting the best trained lifeguard/medic for your event. All of our staff currently work for various fire and EMS agencies throughout the Los Angeles region. about southern California ems lifeguards The Southern California EMS lifeguard division was created in 2006 to meet the ever increasing demand for qualified and professional services to those needing extra protection at their pool parties or events. Too many consumers were complaining at the lack of skilled professionals being sent to their events. In some cases these lifeguards were simply college students with no pre-hospital training or prior lifeguard experience attempting to make some extra summer money. After utilizing several resources, it was learned that all of the aquatics school lifeguards and private lifeguard companies in the Los Angeles region had no formal testing procedures or any type of background/drug testing policies in place. Basically these companies would hire anybody that had a CPR card and Red Cross lifeguarding card. There was no quality control measures in place. This all changed when Southern California EMS decided to create this unique division. All candidates are required to participate in a three phase hiring process which includes testing, background checks and extensive oral interviews. Once accepted, new candidates are on a 90 day probation period and only work with our seasoned senior guards until they have been trained in procedures and protocols. All lifeguards must attend in-service training to ensure competency of lifesaving skills. The company is operated under a rank system based on length of service and seniority. We presently have one captain, one lieutenant, and support staff. We continue to grow day by day and thereby earning the respect of those we serve. We are available 24 hours a day.
