KIDS EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS CLASSES (DISASTER SAFE® PROGRAM)
Southern California EMS offers interactive disaster preparedness classes to children ages 7 to 12 years old at various locations throughout Southern California but primarily in the Santa Clarita Valley. The classes cover topics on what to do before, during, and after an earthquake. We teach the kids the fundamentals of being safe and what they can do to help themselves and their families in certain situations. This program is gaining in popularity and parents are asking for more. This program gives kids the confidence they need to act and survive in a disaster without panicking. This is crucial! The key to DisasterSafe is its interactive training element. This means that kids learn by doing hands on scenarios and getting one on one guidance from seasoned fire and EMS professionals. This translated means that the kids will retain what they have learned and be able to use the skills when the need arises. DisasterSafe also allows us to expose the kids to the world of fire/EMS and perhaps, one day your child may want to be a paramedic or a firefighter. If you are a parent and you would like to host a class for your kids and their friends in your home, this would be the ideal situation. We will work with you in setting up the class and using your home to demonstrate safety and survival. We also invite school administrators to call us to present this program at their schools. This program covers topics such as:
Maximum class size is 20 kids. All participants receive a backpack with all the fundamental tools needed for survival. At the end of each class, the kids are presented with a certificate of completion worthy of framing. Lunch, Books and materials are provided. All classes are 6 hours long.
